Fred's Rapid, from Parrott's Ferry bridge
Description:
Fred’s rapid – named for Fred Dennis, who lived next to it in a trailer, is at the upper right part of the photo, the tongue of whitewater with the big eddy to the viewer’s left, river right. This was a favorite place for learning to kayak, as you could carry up your boat and learn how to ferry out into the rapid, then circle back easily (even if you tipped over – plenty of room to swim your boat back in!).
