Kayakers setting out on last day of Row for the River in 1974

Row for the River was a seven day, 200 mile journey from the Stanislaus River  to draw attention to Proposition 17 during the campaign for its passage. On Saturday, September 21, over a hundred paddlers and rafters gathered here at the Corinthian Yacht Club, Tiburon, to cross under the Bay Bridge to San Francisco’s Aquatic Park, to dramatize the need for the river’s protection.
