Coral Cave had an unusual amout of shields (2 flat plate that kept expanding as water seeped between them); researchers studied them hoping to better understand how they were formed. Coral Cave sat between Duck Bar and Chinese Camps and had outstanding formations that people could view once they climbed inside the large cave – it was destroyed by New Melones Reservoir.
