Onshore scenes – lunch and camp cooking fire

Description:

Two standards for overnight Stan trips were a lunch stop during the day and the camp stop in the late afternoon. During lunch, guides would unpack and lay out pretty delicious spreads of sandwich materials, fruits, vegetables and sweet treats; at night, it was usually time to gather wood and get the coal fire going to cook whatever was on the dinner menu. By the mid-1970s, gathering wood was stopped and charcoal briquets were used, and then propane tanks and stoves, which became the norm (aside from environmental effects of gathering wood, scrubbing off baked on pot black was really a pain).
