Loading a trip at the ARTA house at Vallecito for the run to put in

Location: ARTA House
Status: Live River
By: Larry Orman
Date: June 1, 1974
Description:

ARTA’s 14 acre house was just a short distance from Camp Nine Road – during peak summer months, two trips a day on the Stanislaus would be run out of the house, and often one or two Tuolumne River trips per week, plus supporting trips way over on the South Fork American River, two hours to the north. Over 30 guides were based here, constantly moving on and off trips. After several years of using open bed trucks to haul people, ARTA moved to school buses, shown here.
