Biography of Don Briggs (1940-2019)
Don Briggs was an extraordinary photographer, filmmaker, activist, raconteur, and so much more. (Don photographed more of the river/canyon and FOR events/campaigns than anyone, and generated more publicity exposing the plight of the River and our campaigns than anyone.) He passed away in 2019 but left a legacy of memories and imagery that is just remarkable. This biography – never finalized – was assembled from various sources (including this oral history) and gives a clear sense of Don. He did so much for the Stanislaus campaigns, and for his other river love, the Grand Canyon. He’s missed and remembered by so many of us. Here’s his collection of photos, movies, and other materials in this archive.
