By: Larry Orman
Date: September 7, 2020
Description:

Sean Kay, the son of FOR co-founder and major Stanislaus activist David Kay (photo above left with Sean), passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in late 2020. Sean, a distinguished professor of politics and government at Ohio Wesleyan University. He had recently finished, with co-author Dakota Rose Goodman, a powerful report making the case for lowering the New Melones Reservoir; their research documented the faulty Army Corp’s dam justification from the original planning , which proved to much worse in hindsight. He was the son of David Kay and was inspired by his father’s love of rivers to spend much of his life exploring and defending rivers. More on Sean’s life can be found in online memorials – the funeral home, and the university site . The River has lost a true friend – farewell, Sean!
