The FOR Southern California office in summer 1979 – newsletters (PDF)

This collection of three newsletters sent out in July and August of 1979 show a detailed view of FOR’s grassroots efforts, particularly around seeking support for HR 4223, the federal bill to give the Stanislaus River Wild & Scenic River status. Doug Linney was the person who volunteered to create a Southern California operation for FOR and he was active organizing there for several years. Doug went on to become a highly effective environmental campaigner as well as an elected official for many years on the East Bay Municipal Utilities District Board of Directors.
