Where the Old Fig Tree still lives

Location: Duck Bar Camp
Status: Dead River

Description:

This map shows where cuttings from the grand old fig tree at Duck Bar were taken, planted and have kept alive its genetic family. The fig tree was enormous, though we don’t have good photos of it in its prime. It was likely planted during the Gold Rush and was destroyed when New Melones flooding reached it in 1982. But, like the toyon tree that was taken to the State Capitol, it lives on.
