ARTA training trip camping at Camp 9
Description:
Training groups (12 newbies, four trainers) overnighted at Camp 9 where there were no others in 1971. Cold weather froze blue jean cut-offs during the night but pouring hot water in the morning made it possible to wear them again. On the right, putting on shorts, is Jeff Fowler, who started guiding for ARTA at 16 and for whom Fowler’s Rock on the So. Fork American is named. The big ARTA truck, “Blackie”, was a good shelter at night.
