California Senator Peter Behr was the author of the California’s Wild and Scenic Rivers Act and a powerful conservationist who strong supported saving the Stanislaus River. In 1976 he inspired 1/3 of all the State Legislators to co-sponsoring his bill for the Stanislaus. He was a Republican and forever a friend of rivers.
