Classic guide crew and early 1970s rafting set up

Here’s a photo of a typical Wilderness World (WiWo) crew in 1972 (maybe 1971) – from left to right: Jerry Allison, Henry Wenner, Rick Roberts, and Kyle Kovalik (age 14 or so). Check out the original WiWo frames, designed by Kyle’s dad, Vladimir. Clean, aesthetic design, handmade of fiberglass, but impractical with a tendency to break. That was the impetus for Vladimir to create a frame using large coolers for the guide seat (he might have been the first). Fun times!
