Duck Bar in 1979, looking upstream to Pipeline Rapid
Description:
Jeff was a trip with other staff from Sen. Peter Behr’s office. Photo taken from the trail that connects Duck Bar with Chinese Camp.
(Pipeline Rapid was misnamed. The rapid was created by miners to redirect the river, drying up parts of the river so they could more easily access the potential gold at the bottom of the river. To reinforced their weir, they laid a long (+/- 50ft), 3in diameter metal shaft–originally fitted with cams that drove mining equipment when hooked up to a mechanical donkey. Not a ‘pipe’.)
