FOR’s Linda Cloud being arrested for protesting flooding of Stanislaus

FOR staffer Linda Cloud committing civil (dis)obedience, to protest filling of the upper Stanislaus River canyon – she was later arrested and taken away after chaining herself to a tree.  This was after a U.S. District Court in February 1982 issued a ruling halting filling while other legal procedures were taking place. Filling had advanced as far as Duck Bar, just four miles from complete inundation. At left, Bill Schechner, KPIX reporter.
