Description:
Row for the River was a seven day, 200 mile journey from the Stanislaus River, down through the foothills and then up the San Joaquin Valley, out through the Delta and then on to Tiburon on San Francisco Bay – all to draw attention to Proposition 17 during the campaign for its passage. Only a handful of kayakers could make the entire journey. On Saturday, September 21, over a hundred paddlers and rafters gathered here at the Corinthian Yacht Club, Tiburon, to cross under the Bay Bridge to San Francisco’s Aquatic Park, to dramatize the need for the river’s protection.
