As part of the Stanislaus Wilderness Action Committee (SWAC), five disabled protestors chained themselves in freezing temperatures near Parrott’s Ferry to protest the rising floodwaters of New Melones Dam, sending the keys to their locks to President Carter to ask him to save the river as a National Monument. In the photo above: Kael Fisher, Rick Spittler, and Michael Pachovas. Bob Metts and Jeanne Marlow were chained nearby.
