Parrott’s Ferry Bridge and the ugly logjam from New Melones flooding

These two images show the destruction of the river environment from the flooding caused by the filling of New Melones Dam in 1981 and beyond. Paul Begovac and Scott Imsland kayaked the river in April 1981 and found this mess at the end of their run, the Parrott’s Ferry Bridge. The logjam had backed up against the downstream side of the bridge and oozed under it and into the upstream side as well.
