Description:
The Proposition 13 initiative started as a Stanislaus River measure, but evolved into a broader measure, engaging more interests in support. In addition to providing protection for the Stanislaus, it would have greatly improved key aspects of the State’s water system, saving water and lessening needs for any new dams. This Ballotpedia article describes the measure and the vote counts – Proposition 13 was defeated 65%-35%.
