Scott Imsland, mourning the loss of the river in 1981

Location: Camp 9 Put-in
Status: Live River
By: Paul Begovac
Date: April 18, 1981
Description:

Scott Imsland was an ARTA guide in the early 1970s and a long time river runner and kayaker after.  He explains this photo (low res image, only surviving version):  “…a friend (Paul Begovac) took this when we kayaked the very last days to float the Stan. We wanted one last farewell to this gorgeous river. I brought my saxophone down to play a goodbye tune from the heart and amazing grace. To put her to rest. We joined Gar Dubois on the Parrott’s Ferry Bridge at take out and said our goodbyes and shared our good times together, cave exploring and rafting and all the good friends we made.”  Image was taken just below main Camp Nine put in, below Cadillac Charlie rapid (in background) – they ran for two days, finishing in the flooding waters above Parrott’s Ferry Bridge.
