Thorne Gray, the Modesto Bee writer who secretly wrote copy for 1974’s Friends of the Dam/No on Prop 17 (though he was devoted to saving the Tuolumne), covering FOR’s 1979 ‘public hearing’ and Nancy Regan (UC Berkley history PhD and disabled activist for the river’s accessibility). Mary passed away in 2006 from complications with MS.
