South Fork Falls – Rarely visited falls above the pools at the South Fork Stanislaus

Status: Live River
By: Don Briggs
Date: June 19, 1976
Description:

South Fork Falls was about eight-tenths of a mile upstream from the South Fork Confluence. It was rarely visited, as most people stopped at the pools just above the confluence. The falls were likely formed by Stony Gulch, which came in on the east side of the South Fork.  This photo (and several others by Don) were initially thought to be on the Clavey River, which has similar formations. But Tim Palmer corrected this and others have confirmed that indeed this and the other photos were of South Fork Falls.
