Stanislaus River Song text (PDF)

Status: Live River
By: Ty Childress
Date: June 10, 1979
Description:
Ty Childress wrote this song shortly after Mark Dubois came out from being chained in late May 1979. The song was inspired, by Gar Dubois’ treehouse and Mark’s chaining. Ty says: “I also used to imitate the song of the canyon wren, and, when I sing the song, I usually end it with the little bird’s descending arpeggio. The phallic reference refers to the Corps’ aggressive tactics when f**ing over our rivers.”
