The ETC Founders story – how Fred, Mark and Ron started this amazing organization on the Stanislaus River

In this 45 minute video, the three men responsible for creating Environmental Traveling Companions (ETC) talk about their experiences leading up to the group’s creation in 1972 and its very earliest years of its operation, particularly on the Stanislaus River in the California Sierra foothills. Founders Fred Dennis, Mark Dubois and Ron Coldwell are interviewed by Larry Orman in May 2025 and joined by Jacqueline Dennis and Nan Cassidy, who were also among the earliest ETC guides.
