Ron Toburen rowing Devil’s – as was common in the early days of rafting, guides didn’t wear life jackets. Ron recalls that he was actually smoking a cigarette, but that was airbrushed out by Wilderness Waterways (Bryce Whitmore’s company), who used it as their brochure cover photo in 1970!
